Required for: international students pursuing full-time academic studies or language training programs in the USA. Vocational programs are not covered.
Length of stay: duration of full-time student status.
Applicants: must be healthy, have no criminal record, have a valid passport, be accepted into a school approved by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), prove their ability to pay for their education and stay in the US, prove means to return to their foreign residence.
Forms: obtained from the school you are attending and the US Department of State's website.
Application: fees and documentation are brought to the nearest US Consulate designated in your country to process student visa applications. An interview and medical exam may be required.
Working: F-1 students may only accept limited hours of on-campus employment, or work required by the program of study.
